I pulled the transmission and the drive axles are really dirty on the outside so I thought I'd clean them. I just want to clean the outside; the inside looks fine.

Questions:

1. Can I use Simple Green or brake cleaner or dish soap or what? I thought I'd ask before I did anything. I don't want to ruin the rubber boot.

2. What is used to keep the rubber boot attached? It appears to be a plastic hose clamp. Are these still available?

Thanks!

You can use about anything except Elbow Grease. It's greasy enough already. av-943.gif Seriously; gasoline, simple green, no le hace. You can use zip tie's to hold it in place. beerchug.gif

I use diesel or acetone as I have them available. Its metal, you gonna be ok.

Oh ya, coat with some light oil, WD 40 or something after to keep from rusting.
