Is there a difference between a gas tank for a 72 vs a 73 model?

To quote from 'A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity' by Dr. B. Johnson ...
"Only a single fundamental change occurred, in mid-year 1973 at chassis number 473 292 4903. The most obvious difference was that the fuel filler was now in the expansion chamber. The revised gas cap was black plastic. California models got their own unique expansion chamber for 1975 with restrictive filler hole.
Also differing from the early tank was the carbon filtration system. On early cars it rested on top of the tank. It was modified when the tank was changed and moved to the engine compartment.
