I finally took the old spare air filter I had lying around and adapted it to a paper filter.
I cut out the inner wall of the bottom piece.
I cut off the filter element of the inner piece. (man that was some ugly filter element) sawzall-smiley.gif
I sandblasted the insides.
I welded up the inner seam.
Painted it black.
I then bought a 2" x 8" (CarQuest Part # 88094) round air filter and installed it.
It appears to work great and even sounds a little meaner than the old one.
Between the better air flow, meaner sound and the loss of about 2 lbs of steel I figure I got about 25 more HP out of my car. driving.gif
