Now on Bring-a-Trailer: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-porsche-914-6-7/

I am selling a couple of my cars, I have my eye on something else. Very nice example of 914-6 in a great color. I have owned it for almost 5 years and previous owner (West Virginia) owned it for 8 years. Car was originally an Arizona car and came in through Los Angeles, CA. When I got it, the car came with a 2.7 installed and the original 2.0 engine was on a pallet, I since had the engine gone through and top end was redone and installed in the car last summer. Prior to my ownership the car was mostly auto crossed and the original engine was out of the car for over 30 years and the suspension was lowered (since corrected). Nice thing about it being auto crossed most of its life it was never a daily driver and is pretty much rust free. The 2.0 runs really strong I thought I would lose some power when I pulled the 2.7 but actually runs better (2.7 was probably really tired). I have driven the car on several long trips with no issues and the engine does not leak at all. Fuchs (14"x 5.5" all dated 6/70) were redone by Al Reed a few years ago, Front calipers are brand new ATE, original rears were redone by PMB, new master cylinder, steel braided brake lines, rear brake pressure value redone by PMB and installed. Interior seats were redone recently with original 35 year old basket weave, carpets are original with new coco mats, correct Blaupunkt Frankfurt stereo, all original gauges and knobs, 806.10 original leather wrapped steering wheel, correct early crack free dash. Going on Bring-A-Trailer soon.

Probably going on Bring-a-Trailer soon!

I have known this 914/6 for several years...it is beautiful!
This car is a survivor with just enough restoration and improvements to get it right.
Well done Mike

Fabulous GLWTS

Just out of interest did you mean to double post the Karmann trunk stamp or trunk and frunk?

Sheesh Mike:

Isn't this your "forever" car as highlighted in May 2016 Pano? All I can say is beautiful car and you must be looking at something really special to be willing to part with her. Yes, I know - no car is really "forever" if the right opportunity presents itself. Serious GLWS and hope she finds a deserving home/steward.

Looks like one of the auction houses is going to get this, Gooding & Co. wants it with no reserve, also maybe best to try Bring a Trailer first with a reasonable reserve. Never went this route before so any comments would be appreciated.

Auction houses are pushing no reserve these days. I believe the reasons is owners with unrealistic expectations.
I would be inclined to give BAT a try. Most auctions houses get 10% both sides.
So if it did indeed sell for $95,000 you pay $9,500 netting only 85,500.

Good luck.

Tom
PS: I'm not insinuating you are unrealistic. In fact I think the price is very fair.

BAT charges the seller $99, the buyer pays 5%

Good advertising too. On many Porsche sites like this one, members will put up links to auctions. Pelican, Rennlist, 6 Speedonline, Early S Registry, German Cars For Sale etc. etc.

BAT wants me to use a Pro photographer if I list with them, aren't I just going to get a bunch of glamour shots? Do you think I covered everything in my pictures? I am a little flexible on my price so if you have an interest in the car let me know before I commit to one of these auctions.

They probably got tired of receiving the typical craigslist pictures.
Yours show a lot of the spots that enthusiasts are concerned about but pro photos always make things look better.
Look at some of the parts that a member here who goes by "photos" has sold. He makes a used car part look like art. We have a pro photographer do pics of our pricey cars. He's a friend of the shop. He has an eye for it and can translate it to print. I would pop for the glamor shots.

Also: "no reserve" ensures the auction house gets a sale, right?

Seller what is the part number for the steering wheel? Its leather wrapped but is it 914.347.803.10 or 914.347.804.10? You can tell by twisting off the horn button. The part number is right there.

If it is 914.347.803.10 then you have the same wheel used on the 914/6 GT factory race cars and 911RS.

Hi Newbie, I know everything there is to know about steering wheels, steering wheel on my car is original to the car and is 914.347.806.10 dated 4/70.

Ive got the hard rubber wheel still factory wrapped in leather on my car. Got the "leather steering wheel" on the coa too. Just wondering how common it was for them to put that wheel on rather than the "actual" leather one you got on your rig.

Glamour shots coming soon, BAT photographer took pictures last night.
