I searched this forum and Google and I can't find the sequence for installing a carpet kit in a 914. Pelican has one for a 911 but not for a 914.

Anybody have a link, or can send a PDF of the installation instructions?

Try looking on any of the Lakewell.com, Autos International, World Upholstery, AA or 914Rubber websites for instructions - or email them to send you instructions.

George at AA probably has something or can write it up in an email for you.

PS - or maybe Jeff Bowlsby has it on his 914 website under the rare &/or tech documents, or it may be in the 914 factory manual in the Body section - if you have that in hard copy or on CD.

It was just discussed a couple weeks ago but I don't remember the thread. Basically, the carpet on the longs and possibly (can't remember) the carpet around the pedals gets glued in. A rubber mallet and a heat gun can make the indent for the e-brake. The rest is just laid in the car. Speaker grills help hold in the carpet at the front wheels.

You do have to uncouple the steering shaft to put in the piece around the pedals.

Only glue the pieces to the longs. Everything will be removed and installed again for various common projects/maintenance that pop up. If you glue everything down you're gonna be ripping it up again later.

Lay out the carpet and see where the gaps are. I glued in some black vinyl in those spots, but I wasn’t trying to build a concourse car either

I used some double face Velcro tape in some spots, but glued only in the longs.

to do a great job with the ten piece carpet set, you will have to remove the seats, the em brake handle as it goes through the carpet, the back pad as the rocker carpet goes under it, the speaker grilles, the pedal board, and the steering column as the bulkhead carpet has the hole for the steering shaft to g through. Start by installing the rocker carpets with a light bit of 3m spray trim adhesive, then install the left and right bulkhead pieces with some light spray trim adhesive cutting the slits for the speaker screw receivers to poke through. Next glue the pedal board piece as high as you can behind the board banking it against the flat part of the cowl. The rest is easy, center tunnel carpet then install the speakers the steering column, the emergency brake. pedal board (board helps cinch up the small pedal board carpet and the backpad (great time with the back pad removed to check for a loose rear window) then install the seats, and finally the four floor pieces (nine if you have a 70-71)Click to view attachment Click to view attachment

of course not tidied up yet!!!!!! No glue on anything but the two bulkhead pieces and the two rocker pieces.

The sequence is pretty straight forward. The cenThe piece at the drivers left foot. Then the passenger foot well piece. Followed by the piece above the pedals. Then the longs followed by the 2 front and rear of both drivers and passenger's floor pieces.

I think this post got a little mangled.

Not to be obtuse, but sounds like:
1. Center piece
2. Drivers left foot piece - is this the small rectangular piece?
3. Then the passenger foot well piece.
4. Followed by the piece above the pedals.
5. the longs
6. the 2 front and rear of both drivers and passenger's floor pieces.

The order isn't really important as long as the longs and front left footwell piece are glued and installed first. If you lay the pieces out everything should make sense as to their fitment.

Think of it this way. The last 2 pieces to go down are the passenger and drivers mats.
