Any ideas on where to get CV joints? I need them like yesterday. My current set is shot, but I have a used set that will get me through the Route 66 drive this weekend, but I'll need a more permanent solution.

Help! My car goes nowhere fast sittin on the jack stands! driving.gif

Thanks
Rusty
No longer available. Hopefully you can find some good used ones.

The shop I deal with gets me rebuilt ones, in San Diego of course. I would imagine that Patrick or Beck have them or can get them?

If you can't find any good used originals, this VW joint works fine. You have to ream out the locating pin holes a bit to get them to fit. I've been running one of these behind my V8 for over a year with no problems.

Guy,
Those really fit the stock axle splines? You just have to ream out the pilot holes? Man thats great smilie_pokal.gif

If that works, it's a major find. I found a complete kit for $47 but I don't know how much is useful.

Thanks Guy. I'll check it out.

Paul, where did you get those? drooley.gif
THe 914 parts link in your signature turned up with zip for CV joints.
Dr Evil
Paul,
Where did you find that kit? All of the parts should be useful. Axle is same diameter. Bolts may be same too.
Part Pricer
It's in the WorldPac online catalog. Their part number is K6000-15061. You can get it at any WorldPac dealer. Try European Automotive Specialists. Tell Andy that I sent you. Their price is $47.56. Buy two and its free shipping.

Dealer cost is $40.82.

Ok guys for the last time, Eric Sanders (Partsman) bought up all the CV sets for 914s from NOS in Germany. When they are gone, they are gone. Eric - save me a set just in case. lol2.gif

They fit the splines, no problem. I had to put the joint on my drill press and drill out the holes slightly so the roll pins would fit. At least that's what I think I remember doing. Whatever I did, it took a little bit of farting around but it fit. The CV's internals look the same to me as stock, the transaxle side is a little different where the joint mates to the output shaft. I put a bead of permatex to ensure no grease gets out.

Basically a worthless picture for all practical purposes but here's the VW joint installed on my car.

Wasnt there an issue with these not sealing right.

Thats what the picture is before your post. I bet we can fix that problem.

Guy, did you use the paper gasket also?
914GT
This last time I installed I ditched the paper gasket, just used some silicone.
