Sherryl and I just got home a few hours ago, we left Covington, LA on Thrusday at around 5:00pm and arrived back to Antioch, CA some 38 hours later blink.gif

It was 3 weeks of hell, the house remodel took a week and untold $$$$'s of dollars more than planned sad.gif

Pictures to follow of the before and after....

Now back to 914's....

We saw a white 914 with 8 spoke Empis (?) in Slidell while going to Home Depot and on Hwy 190 there is a used car dealer (Covington, LA) with 2 914's for sale (out in the back lot)

The entire body on the Silver '75 2.0 is very, very straight and might make a good runner for someone...the biggest problems is the single Weber and incorrectly repaired battery shelf...other than that, it should be a decent car considering all of the new parts he'll throw in with the deal.

Time to go get some food and come back home to sleep for a few hours to get ready for another few hour drive to go to Santa Rosa...what the heck, after driving 2200 miles almost straight thru, a 200 mile trip is a walk in the park...

GLAD TO BE BACK HOME mueba.gif mueba.gif mueba.gif mueba.gif mueba.gif

Welcome back.

I have actually spent a fair amount of time in Slidell. (Don't recall Covington though). Lockheed used to have a data center there. IIRC they put it in Slidell instead of at the main NO facility because they didn't want it to be below sea level!

You must be thrilled to be back where the humidity is less than 100%...

Hey Mikey! Yeah I thought you were due back the weekend of the 4th, figured you were just busy catching up on life but it sounds you're just getting to that point.

Slightly coincidentally, I'm headed out today for a week of vacation. We're taking a cruise up the western Canadian coastline leaving from Vancouver. However, I just realized my driver's license expired a week ago and I don't have a passport (yet, it's in the works). So if the great nation of Canada doesn't want to let me in I'll just come home and work on my car all week. To me that would be equally as enjoyable.

Over and out.

These days you can renew your driver's license on the spot. All the pictures are now digital and produce the license instantly.

You can get a passport in two days at the San Francisco office.

An American requiring a passport to get into Canada must be a post 9/11 thing. In the past, when I crossed the border (from Canada) into the States, they only asked me what my citizenship was and off I went.

You don't NEED a passport but its a good idea to get into Canada. They can get real picky going in and real picky coming into the US.

I am going up to Vancouver in 2 weeks myself and on into the islands.

Glad your'e back MikeM.

Welcome back Mike

You don't need a passport, just bring your drivers licence and your birth certificate (driver licence for photo ID and birth certificate to prove that you were born) laugh.gif

Customs wants to know where you were born when crossing both ways. Have your ID ready when crossing both borders. There is signs saying they want it and if you don't have it ready, you might get the "extra" inspection. When heading South customs extra checks about every 3rd car.

Mike,

Welcome home. I owe you shipping on a book -- a great airplane read, btw! I was up for a sig birthday to canda recently and guess what the read was.... (no, you don't need a passport to travel from the US to canada -- yes, it's easier if you do have one.)

After the 914 Baja run, we had one guy held up at the boarder (Tijuana into San Diego) for almost 2 hours because he didn't have his original documents on him.

You don't need a passport, but it is a smart thing to have.
