My 1970 - 4 1.7 that sat for 33 years in garage. Clean but not as clean as my 6 was after sitting for that same time. Got my rockers off today and hoped it was going to be clean. Plastic rivers look original. Car has sat in a Garage in the San Fernando Valley from 1985 till now Very happy that the longs are clean no rust on the outside or inside where I can see it. Gaps are very nice in this car. Small hit in the front that bent the chrome bumper and valance a little and the inside of that area in front trunk but not bad at all. So far this is a good find for me. I will keep removing parts and inspect.

Those longs are absolute porn to us east coasters. I’d show you mine, but they are more ‘snuff film’.

We are or I am spoiled by the no or very low rust cars but we still have the battery acid problem on a lot of cars. Bad design. What were they thinking. Even back in 78 no one ever said anything to me as far as a rust problem with these little cars. But friends with 911s did call them shit-a boxes.

There were some efforts by the factory designers to reduce water washing over the batteries, but many owners over the years abandoned the battery covers that were originally supplied. And rain trays were often removed to allow the engines to "breath" better, resulting in moisture into the engine area, especially the electronics. confused24.gif

33 years?

Crazy amount of time, glad to see it getting some love.

Bob,
The coolest thing is those original Ca plates.... scrape the annuals off and see if you can get to the 1970....
