This is what my drive shaft bearing looks like....

And btw Cap'n, how do I remove this plate?

was expecting a bearing that looked like this?

Press out the mainshaft (the one with the nut on backwards), and the bolts will be obvious. They're on the other side. Remove the bolts, then the plate, then press the bearing(s) out of the plate. Reassemble the same way. if any of the ball bearings fall out, the bearing is toast and should be replaced. Inspect the brass cages very carefully. BTW,ammering on the shaft, either coming apart or going together, ruins the bearings. The Cap'n
