Greg have you tried Rich at High Performance House in the bay area? Wont be cheap, but he has a lot of NOS still in boxes.
Yes, he wants $500 plus shipping. His prices are unreasonable (IMHO).
Just my 2 cents, and I feel your 'price pain', but consider that the seller thinks of it as a return on his investment made many years ago. . .
That is the dilemma of rare, unavailable NOS and perfect parts for all makes of cars.. . I'm sure you've watched 914 prices climb over the years [for cars as well as parts]. . It hasn't slowed down and isn't going to subside unless original manufacturers begin reproducting exact OE / OS parts again. . Until then, the alternative is the current repops which seem to share a fitment issue. .
IMHO,what may be considered unreasonable today is going to seem like a deal in the not too distant future. I had to fork out almost Rich's current price to HPH 7 years ago for one NOS Hella tail light. . He was the only person I found willing to break a NOS set and he charged a premium for it.
What is overlooked is that the collective 'we' are involved in a car that was produced for only 6 years and in what is actually limited numbers. . This isn't like an early Camaro or Mustang where exact OE replacement items are flooding the market.
