That's right, I got beat down by everybody.
Guys out there on roller skates trashing me. ohmy.gif

Don't even know I'm in the top twenty. 100ish car field.

All the FOUR cylinder cars lit me up, and that's all I care about.

TTOD was :53.xx by Andrew Blyholder.
Howard put up a :57
Andy set a :59.3
Grant in his 1.8, dropped a :59.8 on me ( with secret mods? ) ohmy.gif
Albert in his 1.8 got a low 1:01.

All to my 1:01.5 headbang.gif
Anybody got a 1.8 I can borrow...

Talk about yer "a" game. I brought my "d" game.

learned the course by the third run after a 1:06 +3 cones and two DNF's.

I guess I have to face up to the fact that off days are part of the deal. I had a great time and video will follow, of course. Just frustrating.

It was awesome watching Grant absolutely drive his car to the limit. smilie_pokal.gif

Here's our little pit area.

Are them Grant's new wheels and tires?
Hoosiers will make any car faster.

Going to absolute agony finishing off my Kumhos Knowing I got Brand new Hoosiers bagged in my garage.
Trekkor
He ran my Hoosiers in the morning and I ran 'em in the afternoon.

He didn't need 'em though. Got his good time on his Yok's.

the Hoosiers got me from a 1:03 to a 1:01.

these were road racing tires. We're both ready to run our a/x dot schlicks.

Oh, did I mention? I got schpanked. spank.gif

Evervbody has off days. Wait'll next week laugh.gif

That's why I run street tires....I wanna have runs like I do on the street....

If'n I'm hanging my bootey out on a hairy butt pucker curve....I wanna know what my street tire are gonna do.....not some performance garnered from stickies on a prepped surface....

Ain't that what DE is for??????

Just MY $.02....

YMMV
Trekkor
Thanks, JP.

Too bad you can't be at Marina on the 26th. sad.gif

Mike, I run race tires on the street. wink.gif

KT
Joe Ricard
IDONNO. I might drive pretty fast on the street BUT.... No where near as fast as on the AX course. That would be just plain STUPID to try that shit I do running through cones out on the street.

Trekkor, Don't you have them Hoosiers squeezed on 5.5 rims? I just can't help wondering what Grant will think of his tires on them fancy rims. 8.3 inches of rubber is GUD.

I wonder if the difference today was the 4's could hold it to the floor and steer. and the 6 had to make you hold it to the floor brake steer hold it to the floor and not spin.

Trekkor, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for letting me try your slicks for the AM runs. Those were a blast. Who would have known I would set times 3 seconds faster on my skinny ole Yoko's? I think I attribute it to me driving smoother, knowing I didnt have as much tire under the car. Thanks again for the ride in your car, it is awesome. Acceleration that throws you back in the seat and suspension that is perfect!

Only "secret" mod for me was losing the heavy backpad, some interior trim and putting fiberglass decks and bumpers on the car. The wieght reduction really helped. I could run most of that back section flat out in 3rd gear. Thats still a stock 1.8 with a header and a lightened flywheel. I cant wait until I get a fast engine in the car!

Howard was flying today in his Bp class 914 think he was in top ten. Quite an accomplishment on a fast course.

I have hit 10 AX now (...didnt realize I had done so many!) and I think driving expereince is starting to get me more time than mods. I dont get lost any more and I'm actually thinking about lines I'm going to take.

Overall tons of fun and great 914 people! beerchug.gif

O.K. I'll be the ass. Hey Trekkor, "Shall I say four" HA, Just kidding. I'm sure it's gonna get better.

To all of those naysayers who said DON'T go to the SCCA event in Sacramento I have a bit of news... Steve Nieslony beat all of the Corvettes but one BP X National Championship car and driver. This guy needed 2.5 times the displacement and 2 times the cylinders to beat Steve by only about .5 seconds. The shifter karts of course did some damage of their own but I don't count them. Way to go Steve!!!

Sounds like I missed out on a good time and some good competition. Hopefully I'll make the next one - but this is swim team season which makes it tough to get out to the races.

you know what they say:
"once you go 4, you'll never want more" biggrin.gif

that was fun today, we were all pretty close and i think we all beat that ugly red "sports car" as well. already forgot what it was, but i'm sure for the money he paid for it, you could buy yourself a couple of real factory 914-6 GTs ...
wacko.gif

big thank you to the blyholder pit crew!
without them, i would not have been able to run at all!
i owe you guys!

Demmick and Nathan - we missed you guys yesterday.

Overall it was a pretty fun time. When Blyholder guys like Provasi and Seidell show up in their tricked out 914s, I know my chances of a top 5 finish is pretty much gone!

Trekkor, don't be so hard on yourself. When I save enough money to buy a new Cayman, I'll sell you my Bp car...
nebreitling
grant -- damn, you must have REALLY brought your A-game. good job.

looks like howard was damn fast as usual...

i was REALLY upset that i couldn't make it yesterday. i just had too much to do getting the car running again, plus an end of the school year crunch preventing me from getting to it.... thought about pulling an all-nighter to get the car ready, but decided in favor of my sanity...

oh well -- i'll kick your asses at marina!!! beerchug.gif

My 914 looks so meek. Its always fun to beat cars like that when they show up.

Here's a good picture of some of the 914's at the AX.

Nice time Andy and Grant.

Howard, you're a maniac! That time is awesome.

TTOD and #2, wow! No help for the 914cup here.
