What a fantastic event. If you didn't come to the Route 66 Classic because:
you were 2 tired, it was 2 far, it cost 2 much, it was 2 hot or 2 cold, etc, etc.
or any one of over 2 thousand other excuses . . . .
I have 2 words for you . . . . . . "YOU SUCK".
Not only that, you missed out on a really great 914 Classic event.
Just to make you feel
worse better, here are enough pictures so you can feel like you were actually hear with us having a great time.

The unofficial start of the Route 66 Classic was Friday night in Williams. Turtle Girl (Liz) was the 1st to arrive. I found her by locating the Jetta in the motel parking lot with New Mexico tags. We set out to do a little exploring. Williams is really a cool little town.
We got back to the motel just in time to hook up with the next to join the party, Gint (Mike Ginter). He was driving a rented F150 from Colorado full of teener parts.
There were lots of good choices for dinner. We ended up at Poncho Mcgillicutty's. Here are Mike and Liz sporting their new chapeau's.

Don't worry Miles. I've got some special ones, just for you.
In fact, we even bought you a gift.
Liz has it. I know she will send / post it as soon as she has a chance.

Joe Sharp and Linda finally arrive. The Neverland Party Express was having fuel problems. After breakfast Joe took the 'road more traveled' and we would meet up later in the day.

Thin Air 914 (Enie DeVries) and his two sons met us in Ash Fork for breakfast.
Their two yellow teeners round out our caravan for the day.
It would have been impossible for us to receive a warmer welcome than we did from Brenda and her crew at the Route 66 Diner in Ash Fork. They had a special menue available just for us. A reporter from the local paper was even there waiting for us to arrive. We will be a feature article in the next edition.

We saw lots of classic / antique cars every place along the Route.
Some were very nice. Some were rusty shells.

On the other side of Kingman the real 914 fun began. Up to this point we had strictly followed all of the legal limits. On this next stretch of Route 66 we were restrained only by the laws of physics. The 1st 15 miles of so, the road was similar to what we had been on most of the day so far. The remainig 10 miles into Oatman were twisty turning delights.
Sorry the only photo I took on this section has such poor composition. (I was kinda preoccupied at the time.) On the 2nd part I was even busier trying to find the apexes that kept comming and comming and comming, one right after the other.
