Well, After just getting my license yesterday, dad decided we needed to go to an auto x.. So today we went to the San Fransisco GGR auto x, Boy was that fun! Yes I did drive!!! I spent most of my run time switching between my car and my instructors car. Alright, well I havent ever driven hard in my life except today, but i seemed to be able to do good.. My dads fastest time was 45.4, the TTOD (top time of day) was 42.5, and my fastest time was 49.7! WHOO HOOOO!!!! dance.gif driving.gif Yup, Im excited!!!! I did my last two runs without my instructor because he thought it would improve my time, and it did. My times where 59.8 , 55.3, 54.3, 51.7, 53.5 (no grip on the wheel, didnt turn, but no cones), 51.7, 49.7, and 50 flat.. I ran my dads 944 turbo, with the boost set almost all the way off (im learning to drive.. dont want to spin out), and he ran with full boost. I will post pics (and a couple of video's) as soon as they download.

YAY!!!
Andyrew
Just go to this link for pics, I couldnt get any way of posting them from here, even a link! stupid yahoo.. Im in the red 944 turbo with the silver nose..

I'd say you had a good time.

You're a lucky man to have a cool enough Dad to get you out there. My Dad was cool when I was 16... about golf.

I think the TTOD was a tad lower in the the 40-41 second range. Results will be posted on the GGR website in a few days. You can check out all the times (mine too).

Thanks for snapping all those photos. I enjoy seeing all the action shots of the AX minded. Its tough to snap a moving car huh.

Good seeing / meeing you. Take it easy, and we'll see you again out there. tongue.gif

Andyrew,

you look so cute... wub.gif

was that blue 924 a real Carrera or 924GT car?
Andyrew
<_<

Umm the flag 924? The driver is a 7 time national champion, but its a regular 924 asside from that.

ah, Henry Watts, i met him.
he's fast cause he has 450+ HP under that hood rolleyes.gif

seems like (un-needed) extra weight for AX.
sure helps to keep that ass down for road-racing tho ...

oh well, bigger is better, right?

I'm beat, need sleep.
Just wanted to say, I'm real proud of Andrew. He was very smooth and in control. I was not and felt like a wild man out there.

No, that's not Andrew, his hair is shorter. Nice car though.

Sorry, I didn't get to meet very many people. It was a busy day. But what a blast!
Jeroen
Hey Andrew,

Great! AX is a great and safe way to learn how a car handles.
For an inexperienced AX-er (and driver for that matter) your times are pretty good.
Focus on technique and your speed will inprove. If you focus on speed, all you'll do is hit cones biggrin.gif
Good luck at your next AX!

Nope, that's not even close to what a 924 Carrera GT looks like biggrin.gif

cheers,

Jeroen

I think its a 944 with some stick on stuff
Andyrew
Its a 944. The guy posts on Rennlist. The car is about as "rice" as you can get with still being acceptable.. If I remember his post, he did a 47.5.

This is what a real 924 Carrera GT looks like...

It was the hood scoop that threw me off. I thought the scoop was on the wrong side, now I know for sure!
rhodyguy
guys running at bremerton would kill for 8 runs a day.

Yeah, we usually have 80 cars turn out, lots of standing around waiting, rain and deer that run out on the track. With all that and you want FOUR runs!

Like a lot of guys he probably club races and doesn't bother to re-configure his car for autocross. If you mostly club race, why bother wearing yourself out switching your configuration back and forth. Then again, maybe you're right and he just has a thing for big wings. wink.gif

Nice pict of my car (not me).

Some people AX their massive TT cars to do some mechanical time, or break in the tires.

8 runs are a minimum IMO. The GGR folks run AXs like a watch to keep things going. If you really want runs... the last two LPR AXs have had 12 offical and 1+ hours of fun runs with a 45 min lunch break.

Thanks again for the picts!

YAY! I wish I could have done some fun runs, would have gone all out instead of conservative, but dad was half way through swiching tires, and he hadnt had lunch, oh well...

If only I can get these movies to load!! ARG!! (short 15 sec movies)
Oh well.. I'll have an in car cam next time...
EdwardBlume
Isn't it past your bedtime. Oh yeah, summer break.. HA HA Just Kidding.

The video would be cool to watch.

Are you and your Dad coming to Marina? It's probably closer to Modesto
Andyrew
When is it?

And dad already went to bed... I will be called to the duty of sleep sometime soon by the "boss"..

The video is of my dad taping me... Shows how close I get to the cones.. Im happy about that (and no cones as well!).
