Can this 1970 bumper be straightened?

This is the front bumper from my 1970 4 that has been setting from 1985 on.

Do you guys think this can be fixed. The body underneath is in very good shape. No dents

Thanks,

Bob B

Anything is possible but I will guess the labor to make that right will be 4-5 times what a better bumper will run.

agree.gif if it was rare, I would fix it but I would put it aside and find a better one.

Take it to a bumper shop...to get the facts and a quote.

That bumper looks terminal.

Bury it out back.

That's a no from me. It would take days to get right. And would need to be probably only be good enough for a paint job and not chrome.

It's scrap.

Front-not worth the effort. Rear-yes. beerchug.gif

Front....Don't even think about it.
Metal is very thin, difficult at the best of times.
Someone here must have a decent donor, they aren't THAT rare...
Rear is a different story

Don't limit your search to early chrome bumpers.
Later bumpers, even painted ones can be made suitable for early cars by removing
the rubber blocks and the extra brackets and then welding the holes.
A far better chance for success than trying to restore the one pictured.
