I picked up a motor a while ago & put it away for future use.
I had someone inquire about needing a 2.0L motor so out it came to check detail.
It was a EC GC case so 75-76 2.0L 914 motor. From visual inspection it looked as though it had been gone through at some time prior. Popped a cover to see it had been updated with solid rocker spacers. ...hmmm idea.gif
Pulled the rocker shafts to access the pushrods and found....steel, Uh oh.
Dissasembled a bit further to pull a lifter & sure enough... it appears it was rebuilt as a Hydraulic motor.
Ok not the worst thing in the world but not what I was hoping for.
Decieded to pull the head to confirm Cyl & stroke ...DOH! Massively dished pistons ~
They are 94's but I think they are the low comp. Bus units. barf.gif
Why o' why headbang.gif
Oh well ... confused24.gif so turn my attention to the head I just pulled, do a little carbon cleaning ... Crack on both spark plug holes AND a crack on one hole dead center from Seat to seat! icon8.gif
I button it back up & push it in a corner.
lesson learned dont judge a book by its cover. You never know know whats been done to these motors over the last 40 years. smile.gif

I do, what a POS. stromberg.gif
I think the only thing that was salvageable & still kicking around from that motor is a straight cut cam gear set.
