I'm starting with a 1.7 type 4 case .. What are my options from here .. ??

I have 44 webers for carbs

Trying to get some 2.0 heads They sell too fast ..

Now What ????

44s are too big for a street driven 1.7L, you would have to choke them down a lot. 40s would be a better choice.
Unless you plan to make it a 2056, in which case the 44s will be fine.

Time to go shopping for parts!

2L Crank & rods then 96mm P&C's...

Budget?

With 44's I'd go bigger 78mm crank, 96mm KB pistons, CB rods, webcam.
2056cc vs 2270cc performance build the crank and rods adds about $1000 to the total cost.

You can have an awesome 2056 for 5-6k. The kit was engineered by Raby and McMark builds it.

I'm surprised more guys don't use that option. Great running engine with no (bad) surprises.

I'm booked for 4-6 months, but I build engines and/or can supply parts/machining.
Shipping sucks, but no border hassles.

With your budget you could probably squeeze in a set of the new heads HAM is doing. Ready to go I think they are running $1200 to $1500 depending on how you finish them get past a lot of issues with this option.
