this one is another crazy creation that needs help. Not as bad as the ones shown recently but certainly funky, 75 914 six conversion with a 2.2 s engine installed. Engine probably worth more than the rest of the car!

Shaved handles and trim, frenched antennas, white rubber, one piece door windows, chopped roofs, etc., were all the rage in the VW aircooled world back in the late 80's early 90's.
Some VW's years it was OK, but others just f'ed up now collectible years of bugs and buses.

I'm guessing there must be
ZERO web traffic at

George,
I think I see the reason you had to pick it up.....it was the custom gear shift knob! Must be a one-off creation but it looks kinda neat. And the black seat material looks like faux carbon fiber.
Seriously, somebody put a good bit of time and effort into it at some point.

I do too, not sure why the door handle removal, but the rest of it I like, especially the color scheme , I like the white door panels and the dash face. the early boxster wheels look good as well. I would drive it!

This car is originally from SoCal. I understand it belonged to a gentleman in HB previously. I saw this car advertised on Craigslist about a year ago in Ventura. By then it was owned by another guy who couldn't answer my most basic questions about the car. Price was very fair around 19k but once he started with some
possible rust....I ran.
I never took the time to drive out and see it in person so
I kinda dug the restomod look but I agree, the engine drew my attention more.

It is actually a California car with "no" (LOL) rust at least about as rust free as a 43 year old 914 that has been extensively worked can get!!

I have a little list on it, am going to make it look more like a conventional 914 with black top side vinyl black rocker panels and chrome bumpers. On the interior, just a GT wheel, the rest of it looks good. I agree that the Boxster wheels look good as well so keeping them.
The S engine is the big hit, very very powerful for what it is and certainly high revving. Like someone said, "I would drive it!" Should be fun and after I finish not TOO wacky

Ok Ok the dumb question. How does one open the door?

It has a key fob with a push button, pretty nifty but crass

You would make it with a hidden jump point, connect a battery and it would pop the doors.
Much like how you pop the trunk on a 996 if the battery is dead.
They have a pull out on the fuse block that you can jump it to pop the lid.
