How are these removed ? I want to powder coat the 4 clips and so far it’s not as easy as I thought. And, I’m doing this out of the car....

Snap Ring pliers is what I used.

I just slide them off the side. I think there is a mystery tool to remove them. At least that is what the two holes suggest to me. Maybe snap ring pliers

Take two small punches or something that will fit in the holes. Kinda works like chop sticks. Just squeeze them together and slide off. It makes it very easy.

The factory had a tool that would hook over one side of the clip, and force it down and over the other side. But after 40 years, the plastic is a little more brittle, so I use snap ring pliers.

Now for the last question : After the 4 clips are off, can the front piece be removed separately for painting ?
Don’t want to pull the whole fresh air blower.....the unit in the picture is not mine. Mine is still mounted in the car....

Remove your wiper assembly too.
Perfect time to lube the wiper shafts.

Solid plan. It's just a good idea to do certain things while certain parts are out.
