I took apart some spare '75 struts last night to get them cleaned up to send out for powder coating, upon cleaning up the spindles, I felt a small ridge on the lower half of where the inner and outer bearings rest on the spindle.

I then took a brand new wheel bearing and slide it on the spindle, I did not like how sloppy the internal housing was on the spindle...into the trash they go wacko.gif

I'm guessing the car these came off of had loose wheel bearings for many, many miles.........

Jeff Keyzer had the same issue with his 911 struts. wacko.gif

Another problem area to watch for.

I "could", but I'd think it would be costly and for these, they are pretty much disposable right now.....besides for a critical, stressed item like the spindle, I'd rather not play around with the metallugury too much..........
