A few years ago I had a BMW M6 Coupe. I took it to a Transmission 'specialist and he used a stethoscope to listen to the various noises that I had heard creep up into the cabin. He diagnosed one of the bearings in the tranny as bad. He invited me to listen and the grinding sound was incredible.
Here is the question.
I know some of you have been using this device for your 4 and 6 914s. Perhaps a thread on the best place to put the probe to check on:
-valves
-Main bearings
-various other devices
Then, what is the right sound we should hear if all is well?
Any interest in participating in putting this together?
In my very limited experimentation, I had a hard time figuring out where to put the stethoscope and then when it was close to the machinery, what should I listen for?
Oh yea, I know someone out there is going to tell me where to put the probe...

Respectfully,
CTC
