You should stop by his shop and see the rust buckets he has waiting to get done. He has saved some cars that I wouldn't have even considered cars in the condition they are in.
My 1958 Coupe started as a $1200 parts car in 1981. It needed everything! The entire nose and tail were removed and all of the the usual sheet metal was replaced with a combination of NOS and repro sheetmetal. The only original untouched panel was the roof. I rebuilt the original engine and regeared the trans with BBAB gears. The interior was refurbished with Autos International material as original. I drove it home in September, 1995. Almost 15 years of restoration/reconstruction. We enjoyed it for 15 additional years. I let it go in 2010 for all the money at the time (much more than the experts said it should go for) and it is the one that I wish I kept..... Anything can be saved. Not economically in today’s dollars but it quickly becomes so.

I’m sure this is a west coast vs east coast situation when we’re talking rust. California is spoiled with their lack of rust.

We can all hope that the same will be true for 914s at some point. Not just for the monetary appreciation, but also the "cool car" appreciation. I started to say "purity", but we all know that the 914 is one of Ferdinand's bastard children.

That's a speedster limited production car really,not so with the coupes,Adam has a few outside stored rusty one's ,thought he may have answered ??.
Funny little cars ,went for a drive in a 1720 61 coupe did nothing for me ,think I was wanting more than a hotted up beetle experience...….

We should have a chassis for this car in 2 years. Hold off on the restoration till then and it will be significantly cheaper for the customer.
That longhood seems pretty solid

Sorry for the delay, been working 16 hour days trying to get my car ready for the 356 Registry ECH this weekend, looks like I'll just make it.
Yes, save them all, even the rusty ones. I'm yet to find a 356 that I couldn't sell, there is always someone willing to take one on.
