I think this is a very early unit. I had one like it in my 6 and I got a second one like it.

I have one exactly like that ...it was in my 70' 914-6 and I always thought it was an aftermarket also...seems like all the old pictures and books show a smooth vinyl one for the 6..smooth vinyl like the doors.....I wonder if this type was a dealer installed product....let us know what you find...Thanks
