I have a 73 1.7 in excellent condition.
The only things that are not original are a luggage rack and the 1.7 was replaced with a stock, field injected 2.0.
The 2.0 runs great, but I have the original, numbers-matching 1.7 and was wondering, if this were yours what would you do?
1. Leave it as-is, with the 2.0 installed and just stick the 1.7 in the basement
2. Rebuild the 1.7 as a stock 1.7
3. Rebuild the 1.7 with a larger bore, and if so what size
4. Rebuild the 1.7 with a 2.0 crank and rods as a stock 2.0
5. Rebuild the 1.7 with a 2.0 crank and rods as a 2056
Budget is not large, but reasonable.
I guess the big question is how much value is there is keeping the numbers matching?
I could not verify the transmission number, but it's in the correct range.
I do plan to stick with fuel injection.
Thank you for your pearls of wisdom!
