Full Version: Alternator wiring question

Should be a dumb question, but kinda painful to re-doo if incorrect
I've got my shinny new alt wiring harness and want to make sure it's wired correctly.
The 3pin connector can clearly only go to the correct terminals but my alt has 2 B+ terminals.
I tried Google & posts in here, but no direct answer.

Happy Holidays y'all from Charleston SC

Does that larger red wire go to the starter?
IronHillRestorations
Just make sure the stud isn't too long and makes contact with the back cover. A member here just had that problem and melted the harness, lucky he didn't lose the whole car.

Yes, connects to Pos batt cable at the solenoid.

OK, thanks. That entire black plate is B+. The plate has 2 bolts, the one the wire is connected to and the other one at the top of the picture. Either one would work with the wire although the cover plate on the rear of the alternator may dictate which bolt the wire goes to.
