Like it says, any recommendations for the best places to buy a general set of metric taps and dies. I prefer quality over price. My Sears SAE set has never failed me, but Sears and the Craftsman brand are now questionable. Any recommendations?

I have an Irwin SAE set that I have had for years. I wouldn't pass on Craftsman. I have a shitty metric set from Harbor Freight that got me out of a bind one weekend but I wouldn't recommend them... pretty primitive.

Off the top of my head I don't have a good set recommendation (as of late I've just bought individuals), but just in general a set with 2 flutes taps is preferable to one with 4 flute taps.

Snap-On RTD-48 is great rethreading tool kit.

• Repair or renew damaged threads using a socket or wrench (not for hardened threads or cutting thew threads)

There is a distinct difference between using a "thread chaser" and a "tap".
