So am toying with the idea of duplicating the Nurburging GT's "outboard" mounted Iode 45 look as a winter fabrication project. I have a set of vintage 45's from France in my parts stash.

I know the the inboard spots are modified Cibie Pallas hood lights - but after scouring Armando's most excellent Pbase sight, I could find no photos of what the actual complete bracket looks like for the outboard mounts. I'm guessing these tie in with the bolts that mount the fiberglass bumper to the shell - and obviously I can see the reinforced 90deg drop where the spot mounts to the bracket - but I really want to see the details hidden by the bumper.

Anyone have any data on this? I can go ahead and guess what was done, and throw something together that works, but I'd rather duplicate what the factory did.

Looking to the GT gurus out there to enlighten me....?

I have also wondered what these brackets looked like and was hoping someone would make them someday. They should not be too tough to fabricate and i wonder why no one has made them. Keep us posted on your progress.

I have a picture of Jeff Zwarts inner Lamp mounts. They were welded in.

Thanks for posting, Sixnotfour. As noted, this is the limit of detail you get from the photos I've seen too. The detail hidden beneath the fiberglass is what I'm after. I'm guessing there's an "L" bracket that gets triangulated by the vertical piece that you see sloping there. But does it pick up the two bumper bolts? Or a have a third pickup point to get some lateral stability?

Yup, that's what I am guessing too. Again, looking for pictures / detail on what the bracket actually looked like....

Rennen Metal used to make an outer driving light bracket set. (I used them on one of my builds.) I don't believe rennen metal is around any more, but check with Camp 914. Craig may have a set that he took off a car he purchased from me.

So weird, Just as I opened up the thread I was thinking "I have a set of those in storage" -- they may actually be here in the garage and I could photo them if helpful.

I'm in progress ... slow progress ... of restoring/reinstalling the front wiring and lighting in my car. I basically have all the bits other than time. shades.gif I may try using the 'outboard' mounts with some Hella H1 lamps I've got, or some Cibies/clones which are still available new. Have some 118 euro driving lamps for the normal position/bracket.

So assuming that is the aftermarket (Rennen metal) bracket? Clearly different triangulation to the bracket on the factory car shots. But many thx for posting!!

I’m thinking of a set of rally lights (Cibie 45s) for my newLy acquired 914 ( Have Pallas lights on my 911)
Looking for mounting info and came across this thread.
Is there any current source for these brackets or an alternative?
Thanks

Hi - this thread I believe holds the latest thinking / progress:

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...roject+brackets

And also realize I am still delinquent in publishing the dimensions on the factory clone mounts I fabricated. One day.
