before I go through with making this, what is your opinion? How many of you would need this and or purchase one for 35.00. Of course we all know that it came with the original 914 tool kit so is necessary for the concours presentation, but making it is expensive believe it or not and it has to be plated gold (original rusty tool kit!! (LOL)

I just paid $65 to get an old (cleaned up) tow-hook.
So $35 is definitely worth it.

What's the thread on that? Will it fit our cars? I wouldn't mind having one I could actually use to compliment my nicely re-plated "show" piece.

BTW George, if I didn't already have a nice looking tow eye, I wouldn't hesitate to pay $35 for a good replica.

fwiw - scca & maybe other venues require a 2" loop - easier to quickly fit a rope or hook into at trackside - so i just welded 2" steel rings to metric grade 8 bolts -
