I need some software to convert VR (?) to MPEG on a DVD. Anybody got a recommendation?
I "think" I can switch the camera over to MPEG, but that's no help with the vids I have.

hmmm...dunno what a VR from a camera is. What kind of camera is it?
Some DVD authoring programs will convert Quicktime and AVI files into MPEG-2 for you.
I use Apple's "Compressor" program or Sorenson, or Media Cleaner to do it for me.

Sean:
It's a Sony. The disc is DVD-RW, they call the mode Video.
What I really need to do is compress the vid (currently 300 mg)
so's I can get it on the net.
I'm really quite clueless bout this shit.

Ok, I've got ya.
Try this
Windows Media 9 Encoder. You'll need to copy the files from your dvd to your computer first. I haven't used one of those cameras to know if you'll need an intermediate program to digitize or not.
If so, try this
DVHSCap I haven't used this yet, but folks do it to capture HD Mpeg files to edit. It should hopefully work with NTSC mpeg cams as well.
good luck,
