I went to the Int'l 914 meet in Essen Germany. Around 40 cars showed up from all over Europe. Two people from California - me and Jim from LA.
It was a lot of fun with a really nice atmosphere. The only criticism is that too much of the running was in town with many traffic lights - not much fun in a tailshifter.
We drove down in the newly restored 914/6 from Amsterdam. Then after the 'do' the British group (and us) drove down to Nurburg and ran the 'ring on Monday before returning home Tuesday.

ASSHOLE!!!
You actually got to drive a 914/6 from Amsterdam to Essen!!!I have yet to see a running 914 in Europe (I don't think they exist and these photos are of California).
Way cool pics Richard. Now why do the Brits aways have to install funky Cibie driving lites on the front?
Jealous as hell of you......
maybe one day Jeroen will actually have a running 914/6 that I can have a ride in.

Richard, whats that guy in the red body kit car got going on with the floor? Is it some kind of panel layed in it?
And that gulf blue 914 is hot. Way nice looking.
Hey what did the guy do with the 928 plant, did he cut the firewall the same way Rich did on the Alien?

Richard, many thanks for all the nice pics
the "interesting wheels" on the red car seems to be "Lemmerz" rims - well known on all types of air cooled VWs (beetle, type 3, type 4, ...)
the 928-engine car seems to be the one that's shown at the DGVWPB
the floor of the red car with body kit has a so called "Riffelblech" on it - I've no idea how to translate it, but it's a kind of sheet metal

I think you'd call it diamond plate in English
Except in this case... it's actually plastic
Cheesey ricers stuff

Hey Richard,
Looks like you had a fun stay
I almost made it to Zandvoort last thursday...
If I had known you'd be there, I would have tried a little harder to leave the office early
