Good morning - getting close to being ready to pull the '73 1.7 car's gearbox out (consensus is bad bearings) and wanted to get some coaching on if the OEM muffler needs to come off to do that.
Looks pretty tight in there now with it in place but I haven't lowered the rear of the transmission yet.
Remove the muffler.
OK - off it will come.

Good morning - thanks for catching that. I did know it wasn’t a factory design. This is the first one I’ve pulled.
Any ideas on what it is? It’s a good muffler - very civilizated without muting the car too much.

It looks like a Bursch 2.0 Muffler.
