OK, getting ready for the move...bought a cheap (914 style) home built trailer...

What are folks using for tie-downs on the front? Any pictures?

I was thinking about welding a ring to the lower control arms...thoughts?

for the rear, using the engine bar or the swing arms? Should I weld a ring to the swing arms also??

Pictures would be welcome....thanks!

Start new job in Maryland July 5th!!

I won't have the family at first...so...any get togethers?

For many times, I used truckers rachet-style strape to 'em hold down.
Front, through the A-arms,the rear? if still have tranny,I loop it over it,then tie down.
If no tranny,I run the straps through ,around the shock towers.

BUT! ohmy.gif I'm open for a few suggestions!!

As I lay on my back, trying to reach under my IMSA air dam,to put the strap throu the A-arms, I'm a thinking "There's GOTTA be an easier way!!" headbang.gif headbang.gif

What ya do for the front?

Front - a-arms, rear - lower shock, ratchet straps. Easy. BTDT many times.

I use a long strap with hooks on each end in the rear.
Loop it thru the wheels & feed it thru 2spots in the trailer.

At front, 2 ea chokers with loops on their ends thru the wheels...
the loops attach to the hooks on the rachet straps which is in turn attached to the trailer. Tighten up the rachets against the wheel chocks & also pulls the rear strap tight....it took a bit of screwing around to get all the strap lengths right.
A pic.....not very detailed, I fear.

I've just made a batch of tie down eyes for the 914. See this link in the resourses area.

I'm with JP.

through the wheels allows the suspension to travel without the straps chaffing or loosening.

I have 1000's of trouble free towing miles this way.

I have those red hooks on the back of my 914 - and these on the front. Requires cutting of the valance for them to fit, though. Bought them from Performance products - same page in their catalogue as the red hooks shown above in the thread. They replace the end "skid" caps for the torsion bars.

Edit: Looks like a member has these ver same hooks for sale on the Resources section.
