I have a 76 2.0 (owned for 27 years) and it still has all the original stock suspension components/sway bars. The front has been squeaking for years and I’m finally ready to address the issue(s).
Without breaking the bank, what should I order/install. The car has 55k original miles and is only driven during the summer on the streets. Any advice/input greatly appreciated!!

A arm bushings are probably the primary issue Not super easy, but Ian did a really good video

Also get more that the 4 bushings in case you mess one up. We will take back what you don't use no problem.

Thanks Mike !! I was planning on placing an order with you ! What’s your opinion on poly bushings vs the rubber ones ?

I went with rubber in my car since I am not going to track it or auto-X it. In my experience the poly bushings tighten up the suspension for better handling, but at the cost of squeaking at times. I wanted to keep my car comfortable and quiet for the street and long drives. Rubber was my choice. Good luck.

If it's the squeak you want gone use the rubber.
All other options are mo' money.

Once you start pulling apart 27 year old suspension
The bank may get broken .

If its just the arm bushings then great
But id prepare myself for something more expensive
(While your there , you may find other things )
Brake lines .... Ball joints ....struts ....
It never ends

, if you are going to tear the front end down to rebuild the A arms it only make sense to rebuild the wear items that exist.
Ball joints & Tie rod ends (Turbo) are 1st on that list. Strut (inserts) are relatively easy can be done anytime and so I wouldn include them in this mix.

1000% Do it all together, then you'll also only need one alignment done. Definitely go for the turbo tie rods. Huge difference!

lube all of the suspension bushings with ruglyde rubber lubricant, should have been part of a 914 major service. Will squeak no more

Poly graphite will work, but is actually not as good as the rubber.

Having done the job without using an install tool (Heat and soap. Lots, and lots, and LOTS of soap, I don't think I've ever seen the workbench so clean) my suggestion is: use the damn install tool.
