I tried putting on a lug while the tire was already on the car and the other lugs were tightened and the lug got cross threaded - %$#@!! Is there any way to repair these other than go buy the tap and use it once? I tried to insert a lug several times and I could feel that it was not going in right - Any Ideas??

Front or rear?

I had it happen on mine as well. I just got a die and chased the threads. Holding so far...

Front's you can replace the rotor, rears thread into the hub which is a little more difficult....bet if Headrage still has that tool and ya ask REALLY nice..... wink.gif .

Or you can use the opportunity to press in studs.....

BTW....have you tried swapping bolts?
bondo
I've made a tap out of a bolt before.. Take a spare lug bolt, and taper the end a little. Then take a cutoff wheel on a dremel and cut some slots down the length of the bolt. You now have a tap! smile.gif

It is in the rear!

Bondo - you are the man! I considered this but was not sure it would work!

BTW - the car is coming slowly. My body guy has changed plans, so after I got it taken all apart he decided he wants to do it at his shop? In the process of trying to get it there?

Did it work?

I am in a similar predicament, the soda blasting place is 40 miles away.. I'm going to have to rent a uhaul and coordinate 3-5 friends to carry it on and off the trailer. (it's a bare tub, EVERYTHING is off, so there won't be any rolling going on)
