Hi guys,

There is a yellow 1973 2.0 at auction over here. Car is ex usa and found the vin in the database. Vin nr (4732911673) was registered by a member here but I noticed that his last post dates february 2019. I've sent him an email but sofar no reply.
Looked through his posts but not sure if he speaks about the same car.

Car looks good in the pictures but I would like to receive comments from you specialists. Any idea what the "filter" is on the engine ? Car has chrome bumpers which I like. Car looks repainted (overspray on cables, shocktowers etc)... Noticed 3 holes in the frunk...is this fm an airco ? Did not post the colorcode tag as this is fairly unreadable. I can see the car in the flesh on 13/8 and auction closes 20/8.

Thks your assistance (again) biggrin.gif

It feels like those pictures has been heavily fixed and filtered. The closeup shots paint finish doesnt match the far away outside shots. Aftermarket exhaust, Bursch? Rear edge of the rear trunk looks a bit wierd. Heavy overspray as you mentioned. MPH speedo will need to be changed out.

Painted the wire harness in the frunk. barf.gif

Hard to say much from these pix as they do not show the critical areas but looks like a very nice car. That appears to be the stock injection. The small filter that you see is an after market oil breather catch can vented via that small filter. Best of luck bidding.

Unless it’s cheap, I would never buy a car off pictures alone. If it’s near me, I’m happy to take a look for you.

Thks for the replies so far.... car is located on the other side of Belgium so a bit too far for you mepstein biggrin.gif

Current bid is 8900 usd (8000 euro) but will go up closer to end date...
I see the overspray a lot on ex usa cars... guess this is what you get from a 1000 usd paintjob (as I often read on forums ...)

I will have the chance to see the car in person on 13/8 and will try to check the critical areas... on the pictures it looks like a fine car but as somebody mentioned...photoshop and filters....

note : I will be in California (LA, palm springs, flagstaff, lake powel, vegas, visalia, modesto, san francisco, highway 1 back to LA) fm 21/8 till 6/9 so if a nice car shows up on my route I could deviate to have a look

by the way, the vin nr was registered in the database by Jesco Reient... if anybody knows him aktion035.gif

cheers

Hey Dax- @dax1969

If you happen to be in SoCal (LA/OC) on Sunday, Aug 25th maybe we can meet up and you can borrow one of my 914's and take a drive to LA's monthly Cars & Coffee.

Great early morning event mostly filled with all sorts of unique Porsches.

Let me know. I'm sure we can gather a few local members to join in the fun.

Looks like a great "project" car. You will get to fix the DAPO "modifications" as long as there's no rust not a bad price. But lets face it, if it's "modified " and "improved"at a level we can see, I'd put some money on some bonus bondo or fiberglass.

Maybe not, but just say'n you'll defiantly get some beer drinking time beer3.gif

Horrible???? Horrible car? Horrible advice? Horrible pictures? This person is asking for help and advice and this is all he gets from the "expert"?

Aren't they ALL project cars? lol-2.gif

Very crappy respray. Not bothered to even remove the plastic pieces on the wire holding tabs. A value hit equal to what it takes to remove, repair and spray. You want to make sure of what's going on behind the rocker panels. Those pictures mean NOTHING. The metal patch piece with 3 holes in trunk is suspicious. What's wrong and been pointed out is prob 10% of the total. Look very closely before you leap on this one.

Where can you get that gold 2.0 emblem?

8000 euros seems like allot but prices are on the rise.... Yes some steps could have been taken to produce a nicer product but we are not talking a junker here nor a perfect concours car either..

Lot of weird stuff on that car...

The gold emblems are not original, someone plated or painted some 73+ emblems.

The speedometer is from a later car. Any claims about original mileage can be ignored or ridiculed.

That "puke tank" for the oil breather is very unusual in an fuel-injected car. More common with carb conversions.

Could be a fun driver, but is unlikely to fetch top dollar as a collectible.

Hay Dax buddie,

Looking forward to seeing you when you come out. Well the guys are really on this one for you.

Maybe it can be tracked back to the time before the paint job. I really hate it when all the wires and such are painted up front. People really do not get it.

To quote Al Zim... "They are ALL pieces of shit!"

Valy
The rear passenger side wheel looks different then others. Polished and different center cap. Maybe the one in the trunk is the original but was bent or cracked as it looks a used rim judged by the rust from the brake rotor.
The rear right trunk targa holder looks to have red overspray on it so it was replaced.

Do i see a oil puddle under the car?

But if he sold in 2014 the car, most probably, has been sold many times before ending up here...

Hi Bob, I got, once again, some very good feedback fm the guys here... they see things I didn't notice... very helpfull. I also hate the overspray but see this a lot on ex USA cars...

I will arrive LA 21st pm and, after the roadtrip, will be back in LA (Santa monica actually) on 4th september. We have to catch a flight on 6th. Check your agenda to see if we can go out for diner on 4th or 5th september. I will send you a private email later on.

bye for now
Danny/Dax
