Can a 911 starter be used on a 914? I've seen a post on pelican that a 1974 and up 911 starter is a higher hp starter and can be used on a 914. Any other high torque starter options that are reasonably priced that fit directly?

Yes, direct bolt on. SR68X is the Bosch rebuilt part number. Stock 914 is .8 hp and the 911 is 1.5 hp. All most double the hp.

Bosch SR68X on Amazon was the choice for me...no core charge, nice. Only difference was the pin for the start lead was on the other side of the solenoid...
Much stronger than the "Hi Torque" starters....
