We are whittling away at his rust. Next stop is rockers/longs and the side that will need the most love is the passenger side...of course. The deco is held in place with flathead screws that are locked tight. Have tried to use penetrant, but no luck so far. Not enough room to get a vise-grip on them. Cut the heads, drill them out and re-tap? Sounds like a bunch of work and there are 3-4 per side. Patience, penetrating fluid and heat?
Ironic thing is the harder they are to remove, the more likely the carnage inside is going to be ugly. Its like they are protecting "the truth".

probably mean the three per side lower rocker screws. Yes sometimes very hard to remove, heat with a torch and then lube with penetrant and use a impact driver
