Ran a bunch of errands in the 914, stopped at several places. At the last stop I came out to the car, inserted the key in the ignition switch, and it was like it was the wrong key. The mechanism did not push inward as usual, and the key would not turn at all no matter how much I messed with it. I've had the thing 17 years and never had an issue with the mechanism before, and it's the same key as always. I had to pull the switch out entirely (steering wheel off, etc) and pop out the lock to start it. Luckily I was only a few blocks from home. Anyone ever have this happen?

Anyone know what that little pin is for? It was in the bottom of the cylinder

Hope someone knows how to fix this...is it possible the wafers got bent inside the key lock and it needs to be re-keyed? I'm at a loss...
