I'm about to change the insurance on my '74 914 2.0 and go with Hagerty. Their website now lists the following valuations for the '73/'74 2.0L cars:

#4 Fair - $16,700
#3 Good - $26,800
#2 Excellent - $54,900
#1 Concourse - $100,000

Seems high to me.....is anyone getting between $54K-$100K for an excellent / concourse car?

I think a lot of cars change hands without the price ever making it into the books. So a lot of "valuations" are taken from the publicised sales. Auctions, dealers, ect. I think they have always been skewed high but probably a good thing if you ever suffer a total loss.

They are basing it on current pricing seen at some of the auctions recently. Seem high for private sales.

Which is exactly what Hagerty wants you to do. They have a vested interest- high values equal higher premiums paid to them. I would not use their numbers as a reliable reference to value.

I realize that, but I currently have my car insured for 6k and based on what I've seen over the last few years, I don't think I could replace it for that. When I bought the car 4 years ago, I paid a ridiculously low price and 6k seemed like a fair value for a running 74 2.0 . 914 prices seem to have risen fairly swiftly over the last few years and I'm thinking 10k would be more appropriate .
