Unsure what to time too, need to remark bus fan pulley but thinking timing @ TDC with vacuum line off and let the dizzy vac and mechanically advance take me to just under 32 degress's @ 3500rpm total.
Pretty stock 1.8 with 8.4 to 1 compression and 36 Dellorto's.
Input please TIA.
VaccaRabite
Stock is 27 degrees.
You timing with carbs is probably somewhere between 27 and 32. Set, drive and see how the car responds (pinging under load, high oil temps, high cylinder temps, etc). IIRC, if the timing is above 32 to get the engine running right its an indication of a problem.

Thanks, due to the compression I might keep it "safe" @ 30 degree's max and run on premium fuel,I can't road test this engine but need ballpark tuning to test run it on a pallet with g/box.

It will then be sent to the new owner and installed in a 550 Spyder replica for running in.
