Full Version: Perlon on the trunk & frunk walls

So the search was not giving me the answers I needed.

Any one line the area of there trunks with Perlon? You know like the front fenders in the frunk. The other areas of exposed paint, in order to keep them from getting scratched?

I’ve seen it on a couple 914’s but I like the painted look vs the more modern day carpeted look.

It would need to be molded in the manufacturing process to properly install, otherwise it will have creases / folds in the finish.

Perlon without backing stretches but I’m not a fan of glueing it on the curved panels.

They did it for the 916. There's a pic on page 55 of the 1st edition of Johnson's restoration guide. Maybe George's car?

the factory did do it, but never on a 914-4 so do not waste your time!

Yep. The fully carpeted 916 front trunk is on page 55 and the fully carpeted 916 rear trunk is on page 57.
