For fun, I tried exploring the belt retractor. Oops.

I did that once... ONLY once av-943.gif I about lost an eye. Nice work getting it back together.

I was prepared for some amount of wild spring action, and so managed to keep it on the table, where it made that rat's nest in semi-slow motion.

My daughter and SIL came from Arizona for the weekend, and brought my newly chromed bumpers.

bkrantz
I had the work done by Royal Plating in Tucson.
bkrantz
Not perfect but very, very nice with great chrome.
bkrantz
I had them fill the holes for the front bumperettes.
bkrantz
Back side.
bkrantz
A bit more component rebuilding today, starting with the parking brake handle. All the parts ready (almost).
bkrantz
Ready to go, except for one pin and retainer.
bkrantz
Next up, the pedal cluster.
bkrantz
Initial Assembly.
bkrantz
Pressing in the clutch pedal pivot pin.
bkrantz
All done, and ready for installation.
bkrantz
Close up. Shiny and clean is good.
bkrantz
Last chance to sort stuff before I start re-arranging my work space to bring the body home from the paint shop. Here are most of the exterior engine parts.

I like the way you work. beerchug.gif
bkrantz
Thanks--I enjoy myself more when I stay organized and not rushed.
bkrantz
Working my way through the parts on the table, and cycling through the parts washer.
bkrantz
Some custom work was done on the taco plate.
bkrantz
More parts from the Teener-Rossa collection.
bkrantz
Its time for the big reveal! I went to the body shop today, and they have all the paint done except for the doors.
bkrantz
Any guesses on the color? It is an official Porsche color.
bkrantz
Sure looks better than it did 12 months ago.

I'm guessing Sunflower Yellow. It doesn't look quite bright enough to be Saturn Yellow.

Looking sharp there Bob. Like the color change from red to yellow. Can't wait until you start to assemble.

Will you be making some upgrades for auto crossing, etc?
djway
Donovan called and said it is Mellow Yellow
Frankvw
Great progress and since you lay all the parts in front of you (and us for that matter) in the workspace you created for it, it is really fun to watch that progress. Building it up will be great.
I guess I should say something about the color as well....mmm...Yellow is the new black ? smile.gif

I've been following your build with much anticipation...your car is looking terrific!

Thanks, Doug. Only subtle mods planned (for now). I am trying to stay true to my stockish rebuild. Sort of.
bkrantz
BTW, the color on the photos after uploading does not look true. Try this.

Chrome Yellow

911 color.....Bahama yellow?
jesse7flying
Sunflower yellow. That's what I had planned on painting my car. Looks great.

You guys are getting closer, but still not right. The tint on the adjusted photo I posted might be just a bit too golden.
bkrantz
Almost done with the parts on the table. I took the throttle body apart to inspect and clean.
bkrantz
Everything looks pretty good. Not much play of the shaft in the bore, and the switch plate has some mild wear but looks OK.
bkrantz
Back together, screws staked, and ready for future testing.
bkrantz
Last batch (for now) of parts for the powder coat shop.
bkrantz
OK, the table is empty. Now to reconfigure the garage work space.
bkrantz
Here it is, the workspace ready for the newly painted body.
bkrantz
But the Princess is feeling a little crowded.

Nice progress and great documentation! Hi Bob wavey.gif I'm just putting 2 and 2 together now. We didn't get to meet at the Moorman's during RRC. Apologies for that. Perhaps my wife and I will be back down in Durango soon or in the spring and we can remedy that and I can see your progress first hand.

Hi, Mike. I am sorry too. We got caught up in a few conversations before we could meet everyone. Let me know if you head this way again. And I hope to have my 914 running in time for next September.
bkrantz
The big day! I know some of you have lived this before. Picking up the freshly painted car at the shop is a very satisfying milestone.
bkrantz
Also very satisfying to have great friends to help. We used the same method as back in July, with the car strapped to the dolly, rolled onto the trailer, then a wooden cradle supporting the longitudinals, and the cradle sitting on jack stands.
bkrantz
Unloading at home. Many thanks to Mike (aka Kansas914) and Chuck.

BTW, the uploading process to 914 World really distorts the color tint.
