Then the tail light branch.
ndfrigi
Congratulations! not just installing it but the patience in getting lots of pictures of every step! Thanks for sharing! Now time for engine installation!
bkrantz
All of the left branch through.
bkrantz
And the right branch with the battery leads through.

But here's the problem: the snorkel is too stiff to bend and get its upper end through the hole in the shelf!

So I pushed the lower end of the snorkel back into the tunnel to shorten the part sticking out.
bkrantz
Now I could feed the upper end of the snorkel through the shelf, and then reseat the grommet on the lower end into the firewall hole.

More red spots?
bkrantz
Turns out I found lots of sharp edges with my fingers and knuckles. The risks we have to take?
bkrantz
That's success for the rear harness through the tunnel and firewall! The coiled wires here are for the interior light and the parking brake. These need some grommets where they exit the tunnel.

Nice job there Bob. That was a painful, cursing task from what I remember. I wasn't in a good enough mood to take all the pics you did. Well done. Have a beer on me. wink.gif

Stellar work Bob!
BillC
Extremely nice. Well done!

Thanks for all the pics.

Thanks, Doug. I agree--good mood is important for some tasks.

Thanks, Mike. I need to invent a reason to see something on one of your cars (assuming your garage is still accessible).

That explains the guy in the cape.
bkrantz
Just a couple of trivial things today, including the grommet for the interior light wires.
bkrantz
And cleaning the grounding stud under the dash.

You are welcome anytime - though the cars are put away for their Winter nap I can get them out quite easily.

That looks like the "before" picture in an ad for garage extensions!

Back to work today, on the front end of the wiring harness.
bkrantz
All that has to go through the small hole (big hole is for ventilation duct).
bkrantz
This is definitely the time for "biggest goes first", like the 4-pin plugs.
bkrantz
Here we go.
bkrantz
Next, the far ends of the front light leads. The unwrapped wires are for the future washer pump.
bkrantz
More leads started through the hole. Note the big flag connectors (upper left) are for one of the headlights, and do not have the large plastic connector plug around them (yet).
bkrantz
Progress, from the inside.
bkrantz
Everything is now at least started.
bkrantz
Squeezed the fuel tank bulkhead grommet through.
bkrantz
I attached the ground leads to the stud while still plenty of room.
bkrantz
And then got the big grommet seated. It still shows some signs of gnawing by mice.
bkrantz
Another personal milestone: this is the first time I have taken parts out of the hundreds of labeled bags.
bkrantz
Fuse-relay panel in place.
bkrantz
All the wires that will go in or under the dash.
bkrantz
Now for the wires in the front.
bkrantz
Starting the leads through the fuel tank bulkhead.
bkrantz
Pretty full--all the leads started.
bkrantz
From the tank side.
bkrantz
Grommet seated (and more blood shed).
bkrantz
Quick layout of the light leads.
bkrantz
And the leads for under the cowl and fuel tank.
bkrantz
First step today: removing paint from more grounding studs, starting with the one by the engine relay board.
bkrantz
Then the stud by the battery. Before...
bkrantz
After.
bkrantz
And the stud for the transaxle grounding strap.
bkrantz
OK, ready to start on the harness routing in the engine compartment. But first I have to repair a tear in the harness cover, just above the snorkel.
bkrantz
Time for some 3M rubber tape.
bkrantz
Better.
bkrantz
Right harness branch, leading to the battery.
bkrantz
Left branch, first to the relay board and the blower fan.
bkrantz
And then the lead to the trunk light.
bkrantz
Leaving the leads to the tail lights.
