Hi Glenn,

I think those are VW bus alternator boots from the size of the small end. There are 70 APM Type IV alternators that were used on buses and have a larger air opening.
It uses a different back tin. Here is a stock 914 alternator.

PET shows this one is for a 914 but the way it's listed, it looks like it might only be for the very early 1.7L engines.
