Is one more correct than the other ?
The thin springy one or the stout thick one.
For a 1970 car.

The left one is a VW clip, used on all models of that era. The other is what they are selling as a replacement is a fender spacer in my opinion.

Early 914's and 911 used the thicker clip.
They changed to the thinner clips, maybe in 72.

As I suspected.
I have many of those on the right. Few of the other.
Both work.
The stout ones attach the fitting very securely and are well known to be difficult to
remove.
Thank you guys.

Rory- I didn’t realize there was a difference until you pointed it out. I have some of each. If you are short a couple for a build, let me know.

Thanks for the offer Mark.
After confirming, I found the originals I had plated.
This came up because the first two I installed (the thin ones) were just too easy.
Removal of the thick ones can be a challenge, especially on good paint.
