What features do you see that never made it into the 914?

Slanted fenders and turn signal in bumper. Looks like the 924 set up.

@SirAndy knows a little German... laugh.gif

How about the rear window and shelf behind the seats and is that a one piece rear trunk/engine bay lid and...
DRPHIL914
any idea what year that was printed? was this a later change that was proposed for the 75-76 years? a small shelf behind seat and before window is very similar to the Boxster. kind of like the bumper ideas, and agree it looks like they did use this same thing on the 924 so it got applied somewere else that would have been so much better than what the 75-76 bumpers ended up being. still don't like the slant nose idea, but the signals on bumper not the warts was a good idea too.

It's "914-Improvement Suggestions". Each number corresponds to a change:

1 and 3; Bumpers - 1974 US-Standard
2; Turn signals in the bumpers quarter panel shape changed
2a; the slant of the roll bar stylistically changed [lower and rear edges]

On the left...

Bumper - 1.9.74 US Standard
Turn signals moved to the bumper - Formerly located in the fender

A slant nose 914 will just never look right to me.

Looks like continuing evolution of the 914 if they had kept it going.

IMHO Very Fiat X19 like.

I'm totally shocked! I wonder if this will raise the price of Chaloms? laugh.gif

I guess there are knuckleheads in Germany as well! The book should be titled: "how to ruin a good 914"Click to view attachment

case in point.

Say wha? That yellow car, to someone, was everything the 914 could have been. It has everything the factory should have done, the very definition of 914 perfection... dry.gif

PS I don't think the front bumper turn lights as shown in the design study above would have been legal in the US, which would still have required side lights (warts). And the way the bumpers are rendered they appear to have been intended as bright metal (maybe like the later VW bumpers?) that would telescope in and out, not dark rubber.

Picture of 1974 with new safety bumper on 911s. Turn signal in bumper so it could be and I think the date is 9-1-1974 on this?

Those wrap around lights would be legal if that's how they had developed, but the drawing above only shows the little bumper lights facing forward. Imagine a 914 with that bumper/light set-up and the accordion pleats.

I think the lights in the front bumper shown in the drawing are side marker lights. The turn signals would probably be separate lights in the front of the bumper.
