Morning,
Semi-newbie here. Have a 1.7 daily driver with a big bore kit and CB street cam. Have the Weber progressive but want to switch to 40 or 44. I get the feeling that, where it's not a big engine, 40s or 44s?
Again, daily driver. Don't need to set the world on fire. Thanks!
I initially ran my 1st car on Weber IDF 40's as a stock 1.7L with a 32mm venturi. It was overcarburated. After it was rebuilt to 96mm pistons it was more appropriate. I was running the stock 1.7L heads. You don't mention the displacement of your big bore but if you're around 2056 cc or so, the Weber 40 IDF's will be plenty. Low end torque was not the forte of this engine. In reality I probably should have gone down to a 30mm venturi and rejetted.
Be aware that although they will run "out of the box", you'll still have to play with jetting to fit your driving style.
