Got a new (to me) set of Fuchs.

Anyone know of a source for restoration in the Portland Area?

I’d prefer not to ship them smile.gif

TIA

Not in Portland area but South of you close to Eugene. I just recently found an older gentleman who is working out of his home called Ralphs Tire & Wheel Polishing. I'm getting ready to have him polish the outer portion of my Fuchs. Seams reasonable and knowledgeable. He can be reached at 541-726-5201. Hope this helps.

I agree with mark. Al Reed in california does a beautiful job

Most wheel shops can polish but it needs to be anodized and then painted for the right look/restoration.

I did my own, I can tell you it's a fuching lot of work.
I'm sure Al has some trick stuff to speed things up but I have at least 80+ hours into my rims.

At that price it's worth the shipping from Canada and back. Good looking wheels Ben. thumb3d.gif

Al Reed is great, but takes way too long to do them.

Fuchs restoration does my work now. Fast turnover.

If you just want them buffed and or plated ( not a good idea) that is not a big deal. Messy to do but not a big deal.
Mark is 100% right the ANODIZED wheel is hard to do.

An option is to do your own....

Here are three of mine done by blasting and black powder coating, then spraying the silver. The masking technique was detailed on a 911 forum using water to fill the rim to the right depth (having sealed the holes). i substituted gelatine for the water which with care can give a good sharp masking line with the wheel perfectly level....

Not perfect but a lot cheaper than the full restoration and good enough by my reckoning.... smile.gif

While this looks good in the picture for this moment, Sorry but this is a waste of time as the dust will totally screw up your paint and the decent look when you finish will look bad in a short time. This is a lot of work so why spend so much time on it if it will not last.

These were my wheels that I sand blasted, powdercoated, then cerakote silver.. It was ok but noticed it got dirty real easy.. I have had polished fuchs over the year and know they stay nice very easily.. Click to view attachment

Plus one for Fuchs Restoration. Went to there shop and checked out there operation. Great customer service. Can’t say the same for the other So Cal shop, they may be good but wait time given was ridiculous.

Thank you all for the comments. Love this community!
Fuchsrestoration.com got a lot of endorsements and after checking out their site I found the process is described very well.

I’ll snap a before and after just for fun!

@ben*james - Ever get them done? I'd love to see them. I'm getting ready to drop off some wheels over there.

$295 a wheel is spendy, but likely not if you count the time to do it yourself.

I polished a 4 lug Fuchs once. I spent 30 hours doing it. It was beautiful. I'll never do it again. It taught me the value of someone else's work.

I have 4 15x6" deep sixes w/hearts that need to be refinished. I want a factory anodized finish. In the end I'll still be ahead of their total value. If you want something done right...

Ed and Peter at Fuchsrestoration.com are good guys.

Ed helped me do all of my 911 suspension, top notch.

Have used Harvey Weidman for years and he has done great work for many but not sure of his situation right now as he unfortunately lost his home (but not business) with the wildfires in CA recently.

They did my friends 944 phone dials and his custom wheels on his Cayman. Both turned out fantastic.

Will do. I had Al Reed do my last set and they were great. But I’ve got another set I’d like to send your way cause I’ve got some other business with you.
