A question for this esteemed world of 914 experts: I'd like to repair the backing on the little carpet piece (it's original) behind the driver's seat (see photos). Looks like a clear vinyl or PE/PP coating. Anyone know of a product or bush-fix to repair this backing?
Also, BTW, anyone know the meaning/indication of the "TSB" stamping in the fourth photo?

Maybe a heat gun & putty knife?

Yep; same problem and in same areas (and same "TSB" stamping). Don't want to remove it, just patch it (helps keep the surface fiber from separating, too). Will take it to a local carpet store tomorrow and report back.
Otherwise, translucent vinyl adhesive caulk? Shoe-Goo? Just kidding....

PS: LOVE the color of your car. Don't see many in that color. Awesome.

Went to the carpet store today; the owner is a car guy so he appreciated the inquiry. His advice: Looks like latex glue (e.g. hot melt glue gun). Suggested tacking to stretch out flat (not too much), some cement board fiberglass tape strips (light brown or gray, depending on the carpet color; will seek translucent if available), then hot melt glue - either 2" spread tip (expensive) or regular tip and a spatula or spreader.
Have a glue gun; will get other materials, experiment and update.

OK; experimented. Didn't get/use the fiberglass mesh as carpet was just cracked and bent with no splits. Stretched slightly and lightly tacked. Heated with hair dryer and tapped gently with flat edge of a ballpeen hammer (used for shaping metal). This flattened the ridges and somewhat shmoosed the cracked backing together. "Tack welded" with dots of super glue in places of loose carpet fiber, dots of hot glue gun, followed by a thin ribbon of hot glue along each cracked line. Also touched up edge piping. Trimmed loose fiber hairs along piping and used to fill small missing spots of carpet fiber on the top surface with small dots of super glue. See photos.
Granted, a hobo fix, but a) cheap as all existing materials on hand and b) it's on the back side of carpet behind the driver's seat.
No Pebble Beach or Amelia Island class job, but will preserve it just so long as I'm careful with moving the drivers seat back over the carpet piece so as not to scrunch it up again.
