Engine is out,

thinking about deleting heat exchangers.

What is the best source for ceramic coated exhaust manifolds?

Headers are the only true bolt on HP but with a stock engine the improvement isn't very big, I'd rather keep the heat.
It looks like you have an 75-76 exhaust, I'd back date to SSI stainless steel heat exchangers and a good muffler. The SSI's can be found good used if you watch the classifieds.
What's your budget? Headers you can expect to spend $600 (uncoated headers only) to $3K for a full system.

wow someone has really butched up your heat exchanger system, welding early pipes onto a late heat exchanger!
MSDS, Marty Schneider makes the best four cylinder header system

Yeah, the heat exchangers are crap. Honestly, I really don’t need them. My muffler was fabricated by Redstone Engineering here in Indy, looks better painted.

MSDS has great 914 headers. Well worth the money and they give a discount to world members.

Headers are just the headers, you'll need a different muffler as well. You want a 4 into 1 or a 4-2-1 system.
MSDS make good headers, Marty will ceramic coat them but it's extra cost.
Tangerine (CFR) headers are the top tier, but are also the most expensive. It's the 4-2-1 system.
I don't think Ben makes a /4 system.
There used to be another brand (Euro?) IIRC.
There is (or was) OBX headers that are cheap on ebay, but they are total crap, fit like dog shit and are a cheap rip-off of the MSDS design. Don't get took and support the vendors who actually support 914world.

Just FYI.... European headers are available at GT-Racing.com. They have a specific 914 kit which includes headers, stub pipes, hangar bracket, and megaphone muffler for $935. Ceramic coating is available, but costs more.
Others will have to chime in for performance/fitment, but it's an option. I know a lot of folks don't care for the megaphone. I kinda dig it. Also dig those Toyo Proxes R1R's on those Mahles. Sweeeet!
