There are lots of threads here - all very informative and I think I have this ready to go. The "extra" red wire goes to the new washer pump - i believe it's the + connection, correct?

My only other concern is the little "tab" that is always referenced to falling out...well...fell out of the original switch as it was being removed.

But - I believe the new/repro switches have this tab (for grounding) already riveted in (as seen in pic 2) and i don't need to transplant the old tab to the new switches - correct?

I just went through this and used the RED wire - for this application it is arbitrary as far as I could determine.

I found that the edge of the copper plate between the two screws in picture 2 (under the plastic) is capable of shorting against the steering column housing. I cut the copper piece down so it was not proud of the plastic mounting.

Worked fine,

@ctc911ctc - thanks. Red straight to (+) side of pump.
I saw your post about your switch grounding out - good catch - I think i'm going to put the pneumatic nozzle connections back on the switch - or the base anyway - just to help insulate and seat the switch and keep those two screws from rattling around.

The earth tab is held in place by one of the mounting screws which with the others hold it all together ,you will need to keep that as it may earth other parts of the 2 switches.
Pretty sure the red wire is for the washer pump but been a while since I converted mine, others may know more, cheers.

Thanks @porschetub - does the tab go on the mounting screw that goes in the hole on the bottom of my pic? Next to the brown wire, below the mounting screws for the pneumatic hoses?

whoops. nevermind.
found it.
Here's a pic (stolen from another thread - thanks @Spoke ) where you can see the tab that falls out.

My new switch does not have the slot cut for the tab to fit into, but instead has an integral metal piece on the inside of the plastic that accomplishes the same thing as I can see it completing a circuit/connection to the brown wire in the loom and brown is ground.
